Article from page 8AA

One of my major food groups is deli, and Tommy Pastrami, a New York-style, quick-serve delicatessen, is doing it right. Sandwiches are served on double-baked, crispy-crust rye bread, although you also can request white, wheat or sourdough bread or a French roll. But would you actually put pastrami or corned beef on white or wheat? Sandwiches come in three sizes: jumbo (8 ounces), original (6 ounces) and lite (4 ounces). They include New York blackened pastrami, corned beef, top-round roast beef, homemade egg salad, roast turkey, brisket, chicken salad and albacore tuna salad. Other sandwiches are Philly cheese steak, New York Reuben, double decker made with two meats, meatball parmesan, and Italian sausage and peppers on hot Italian bread. Enjoy a slice of Tommy's famous homemade New York cheesecake after the sandwich. There is chili made from scratch and homemade chicken or matzo ball soup. Tommy has a quarter-pound, all-beef hot dog and half-pound hamburger, along with several salads, such as Oriental chicken, chicken Caesar, and a chicken-egg-tuna trio. Several breakfast items are assorted Danishes, two eggs with potatoes and toast, breakfast burrito, and bagel with cream cheese. Tommy Pastrami is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
